Pencil artist Juliana Osei Nyarkoa draws for Moderator
A moment of pure artistry lit up the Unity Congregation at Akyem Manso when Juliana Osei Nyarkoa, a gifted pencil artist and former student of Presbyterian Senior High School, Suhum, unveiled a stunning hand‑drawn portrait of the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
The young artist, a proud member of the Young People’s Guild (YPG), stepped forward with quiet confidence as her colleagues joined her to present the artwork to Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare‑Kwakye. The congregation erupted in warm applause as the Moderator received the portrait — a striking work that captures his gentle demeanour.
Visibly delighted, the Moderator admired the piece alongside the West Akyem Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Raymond Baah Abekah, and the Lay Representative to the General Assembly Council, Mrs. Comfort Osei Boakye. They commended Juliana for her remarkable creativity.
Speaking later with the Public Relations Officer of the PCG, Mr. Jerome Otchere; Juliana shared the story behind her gift. She revealed that she is a professional artist who runs Glorious Media, a photography and videography business based in Kaneshie, Accra. Upon hearing that the Moderator was visiting the Presbytery, she travelled to Akyem Manso, the congregation she worships with whenever she is in the area, to personally present the portrait.
“In Accra, where I work, I worship at the Resurrection Congregation at Ablekuma,” she explained. “But this is my home church when I’m here, and I wanted to honour the Moderator with something. I’m grateful he appreciated my work”, she said.
