Women urged to guard Christian foundations
The West Akyem Presbytery Women’s Fellowship has celebrated its 31st Annual Conference at the Achiase Bethel Congregation, issuing a strong call to Christian women to protect and strengthen the foundational values handed down by earlier generations.
Delivering the keynote sermon, the Presbytery Church Life and Nurture Director and District Minister for Akyem Oda, Rev. Apea Safo Kantanka, noted that women historically played a central role in maintaining clean environments and nurturing resilient marriages.
“Marriages endured because they were built on solid foundations. Women preserved both the home and the environment, and this generation must continue that legacy,” he said.
Rev. Safo Kantanka encouraged women to approach marriage with humility and commitment, explaining that a peaceful home empowers them to serve fruitfully in the Lord’s vineyard.
Turning to church development, he highlighted the Kuntunse Project as a monumental legacy of past leadership and commended the current administration for its determination to complete it. He appealed to women across the Presbytery to support the project financially.
The three‑day gathering, held under the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage; Building on the Foundation Already Laid — Woman, a Dependable Builder,” was presided over by Fellowship President Mrs. Rosemond Oduro Ampofo and climaxed with a vibrant thanksgiving service.
The conference attracted notable clergy, including Rev. George Asamoah Nyarko, host District Minister for Akyem Achiase; Rev. Michael Apau, Minister in charge of Atuntumirem Congregation; and Sis. Vera Naa Adjorkor Mensah, National Women’s Fellowship Treasurer.
A special ceremony honoured outgoing executive members for their dedicated service to the Fellowship. The event also enjoyed strong traditional support, highlighted by the presence of the Krontihene of Achiase, Nana Balfour Kwabena Akese, who expressed admiration for the Fellowship’s work.
In a landmark gesture, Nana Balfour Kwabena Akese pledged to join the Presbyterian Church and was presented with a hymn book and the Bicentennial Bible.
