The President of the National Ministers Conference of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Dr Kofi Amfo Akonnor has urged ministers of God to remain true to their call, advising that they need not drift into things that would undermine their leadership credentials.

Drawing from Ephesians 4:11–12 in his address at the National Ministers Conference, currently taking place at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Rev. Dr. Amfo-Akonnor reminded the ministers that their calling is to equip the saints and empower disciples.

“Leadership in Christ’s church is not about titles, robes, or pulpits — it is about impact,” he said. He cautioned against creating “spectator Christians” who wait for ministers to act while they watch. “The biblical vision is different: an equipped church, not an entertained church,” he explained.

He stressed that equipping demands continuous renewal. “To be equipped is not a one-time event. It is a continuous process of spiritual, intellectual, and practical renewal. The leader who stops learning stops leading,” he said.

Rev. Dr. Amfo-Akonnor urged ministers to empower members to live out their faith beyond Sunday worship. “The church of tomorrow will be built not by programmes but by people — discipled, disciplined, and deployed,” he said.

He concluded by reminding ministers that discipleship is the heart of the Great Commission. “We cannot make disciples without the power of the Holy Spirit. The disciple-making church is not satisfied with converts; it produces Christ-like believers who in turn disciple others,” he said.
