Midlands district marks 6th anniversary
The Midlands District in the Europe Presbytery joyfully celebrated its 6th Anniversary with a memorable service of thanksgiving, reflection, and honour at Salem Congregation, Milton Keynes, UK.
The occasion was marked by an End-of-Tenure Service in recognition of the district’s first Clerk, Mrs. Betty Oware Banahene, whose pioneering leadership and dedicated administrative service laid a strong foundation for the growth and stability of the district.
Congregations and invited guests expressed heartfelt appreciation for her commitment, sacrifices, and faithful stewardship during her years of service. Citations, prayers, and presentations highlighted the impact of her work and the legacy she leaves behind.
Preaching the anniversary sermon, the District Minister, Rev. Joseph Oduro, delivered an inspiring and spirit-filled message on the theme: “The Bible: Guide for Work Ethics and National Development.” He reminded the church of God’s faithfulness over the six-year journey and charged members to remain united, committed, and forward-looking as the district continues to grow in ministry and expand its mission.
His message called for deeper service, stronger fellowship, and renewed dedication to the work of Christ as a nation, as immigrants, and as Christians in the Europe Presbytery and beyond. The celebration was not only a time of honour but also a moment of gratitude to God for His guidance, provision, and blessings over the Midlands District since its establishment.
Rev. Oduro recounted some of the major hurdles the district had faced and expressed appreciation to Mrs. Oware Banahene for her unwavering support and dedication to duty. Looking to the future, the Midlands District remains hopeful and committed to building on the solid foundations already laid, trusting God for greater impact in the years ahead.
The occasion was graced by Ministers, Catechists, and Presbyters of the District, including Rev. Joseph Oduro, District Minister; Rev. Prof. Bamfo Atiemo, immediate past Europe Presbytery Chairperson; and Rev. Ebenezer Ahenkan Owusu, immediate past Public Relations Officer of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. Also present were the District Lay Representative, Mrs. Adelaide Atu, and the current District Clerk, Mrs. Ruth Boateng.
