Breman Asikuma: Moderator given rousing welcome
As if the districts grouped into four zones of the Central Presbytery were competing to outdo one another in hospitality, the Asikuma Zone—comprising Asikuma, Besease, and Brakwa districts—rolled out a spectacular reception for the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, on Thursday morning.
His entourage entered Breman Asikuma shortly after 10 a.m. to scenes of jubilation that signaled the spirit of the PCG congregations in the zone. At the Apagya Traffic Light, a well‑dressed Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade Band, accompanied by the Women’s Fellowship, catechists, ministers, congregants, and schoolchildren, awaited the Moderator’s arrival.
With brass band music filling the air and dancing breaking out along the roadside, the procession led the Moderator’s vehicle triumphantly to the precincts of the Ascension Congregation, Breman Asikuma. The energy, colour, and joy of the welcome made it one of the most memorable moments of the Moderator’s ongoing tour.
The visit, now in its third day, is more than ceremonial. It is a pastoral mission designed to strengthen bonds between the General Assembly and the grassroots of the church. By moving from district to district, the Moderator is not only receiving briefings from leaders but also engaging directly with congregants, encouraging them in their faith, and reminding them of the collective mission of the church.
His presence is seen as a source of inspiration, rekindling zeal for service and reinforcing unity among members and leaders alike. For the congregants in Besease, Brakwa and Breman Asikuma districts, the visit underscores the importance of pastoral tours as moments of renewal, fellowship, and shared commitment to the work of God.
