Young preachers shine at Upper Presbytery competition
The Upper Presbytery has held the much‑anticipated fourth edition Children Service and Junior Youth Best Preacher Competition, an event that celebrated the gifts of young believers and their passion for proclaiming the Word of God.
The competition took place last Saturday at Grace Congregation, Bolga Estate, under the theme: “Celebrating Our Heritage; Building on the Foundation Already Laid” (1 Corinthians 3:11). Hosted by the Bolgatanga District, the programme drew spirited participation from children and youth under 18 years of age across the Presbytery.
Districts represented included Bongo Zorkor, Bawku, Sandema, Bolgatanga East, Gambaga, Tempane, Kusabilga, Bolgatanga, Narvongo, Fumbisi, and Wa. Rooted in nurturing preaching skills, the competition offered a platform for young Christians to boldly share the Gospel.
After powerful and spirit‑led presentations, outstanding young preachers emerged. In the Children Service Category, Miss Rebecca Nayo from Narvongo District, Miss Patience Adanse Sarpong from Bolgatanga District, and Miss Emmanuella Akettiwine from Garu District were recognized.
In the Junior Youth Category, Miss Asika Josephine Ab. from Bongo Zorkor District, Miss Celestina Tulbire from Bolgatanga East District, and Miss Abugri Stephanie Awinpang from Bawku District distinguished themselves with inspiring sermons.
In his address, the Upper Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Roger Awudibah Wegurih, congratulated all participants for boldly sharing the Gospel and allowing God to use them at such a young age. He expressed gratitude to Presbytery leadership, teachers, facilitators, district coordinators, and the Bolgatanga District for hosting the impactful event.
Rev. Wegurih further urged parents and the wider Church to continue praying for and supporting children and youth, encouraging them to grow in faith and take their rightful place in the mission of the church.
