Good Friday is world salvation day – Rev Dr Nii Noi Odonkor
The former Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and currently, the District Minister of Osu, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, has called on Christians to recognise Good Friday as “World Salvation Day”, emphasising its significance as a moment of redemption for humanity.
Delivering a sermon on the theme: “By His wounds we are healed” at Eben-Ezer Congregation, Osu, Rev. Dr. Odonkor underscored the need for deep reflection on the sacrifice of Christ and its implications for both personal and national transformation. He urged all people to embrace forgiveness, reminding believers that Christ forgave even in the face of suffering, and that such a spirit must guide human relationships today.
Addressing national concerns, he spoke passionately against the destructive effects of galamsey, calling for responsible stewardship of the environment. He also touched on the importance of world peace and highlighted ongoing chieftaincy issues in Osu, encouraging dialogue and unity in resolving conflicts.
Rev. Dr. Odonkor further lamented the state of the nation’s democracy, describing it as “wounded” and in need for divine healing. He called on citizens to rise in prayer, trusting that just as humanity was healed through the wounds of Christ, the nation too can experience restoration.
He concluded by urging Christians to let the message of Good Friday inspire a renewed commitment to righteousness, peace, and national development.
