Easter Sunday radiates in joyful bicentennial colours
From Accra in the Ga Presbytery to Adelaide in the North America/Australia Presbytery, and from Yorogo in the Upper Presbytery to Glasgow in the Europe Presbytery, members of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) turned Easter Sunday into a radiant tapestry of faith and colour.
Responding to the call from Head Office, congregants worldwide wore the official bicentennial cloth to mark the resurrection of Christ as we build excitedly toward our 200th anniversary in December 2028.
The sight was nothing short of spectacular. Sanctuaries, open grounds, and worship centres were transformed into seas of blue, white, and red patterns — each design reflecting the unity and diversity of the church.
Congregants, dressed in their bicentennial attire adorned with the church’s emblem and anniversary motifs, shared photos on social media. Posts from congregations, districts, and presbyteries monitored by the PR Office showed worshippers filling sanctuaries with vibrant hues, proudly joining the Easter celebration in their anniversary cloth.
Children, youth, and the elderly alike participated enthusiastically, each showcasing unique styles sewn from the commemorative fabric. From elegant dresses and tailored shirts to pleasant styles, the creativity of members reflected the joy of Easter and the pride of belonging to a 200‑year‑old heritage of faith.
The day’s worship was not only a celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection but also a reaffirmation of the PCG’s enduring mission — to proclaim the Gospel with unity, purpose, and love. As the Moderator’s Easter message said, Easter is “the triumph of life over death, and the assurance that God’s redemptive purpose for the world cannot be thwarted.”
