Profile: Rev. Frederick Addo Obiri, Central Presbytery Clerk elect

The Clerk‑Elect of the Central Presbytery, Rev. Frederick Addo Obiri was born in Kwae and hails from Anum Boso in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He has served the Presbyterian Church of Ghana faithfully for many years—four years as a Catechist and eight years as an ordained Minister of the Gospel. He was consecrated as a Catechist in 2014 and commissioned as a Minister in August 2018, later being ordained in 2020.

Educational Background

Rev. Obiri is a trained professional teacher with more than 22 years of experience in the Ghana Education Service. His academic journey includes:

  • University of Education, Winneba – Bachelor of Education (2011–2013)
  • University of Cape Coast – Diploma in Basic Education (2006–2009)
  • SDA College of Education – Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ (2001–2004)
  • Asuom Senior High School – SSCE (1998–2000)

He has risen through the teaching ranks from classroom teacher to Assistant Headteacher, Headteacher, and currently holds the rank of Assistant Director I.

Ministerial Experience

Rev. Obiri’s service to the Church began long before his commissioning. He has served as a Bible Reader, NUPS‑G Secretary, Session Clerk, Catechist, and now Reverend Minister.

His early ministerial work was at Akroso Resurrection Congregation, where he served as Session Clerk, Caretaker, and Catechist. From 2009 to 2018, he ministered at Gethsemane Congregation, Akroso Kyinso, while also serving as District Clerk from 2015 to 2018.

After his commissioning in 2018, his first ministerial station was Bawjiase Emmanuel Congregation, where he served until 2024. He was later transferred to Prince of Peace Congregation, Winneba Junction, where he continues to serve.

Rev. Obiri has held several leadership roles within the Presbytery. He served as CLAN Chairperson for Kwanyako District (2019–2024) and currently serves as CLAN Chairperson for Winneba District. Since 2022, he has been the Youth Coordinator for the Central Presbytery, overseeing both the JY and YPG.

He has also served as a Presbyterian Recorder since 2016, General Secretary of the Local Council of Churches, Bawjiase (2019–2022), and later as Chairman of the Local Council of Churches (2022–2024). He currently serves as Assistant Secretary of the Central Presbytery Ministers’ Fellowship.

Family Life

Rev. Frederick Addo Obiri is married to Mrs. Mavis Addo Obiri, and they are blessed with five children: Awurabena, Maame Pokua, Papa Bempong, Nana Adwoa, and Nana Yaw. He speaks Guan, Twi, and English.
