‘We Are Partners’ – Salvation Army Chief Secretary affirms
The Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, has paid a fraternal visit to the Chief Secretary of the Salvation Army, Ghana Territory, Lt. Col. Ireen Hacamba, as part of his ongoing engagements with administrative heads of sister churches.
The meeting, which marks the third leg of his ecumenical courtesy calls, highlighted the deep bond shared by the two denominations and reaffirmed their commitment to Christian unity and collaborative mission.
In her remarks, Lt. Col. Hacamba underscored the spiritual partnership that binds the Salvation Army and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. She noted that both churches share a common mandate rooted in the Great Commission. “We are partners in Christ; our main mission is to find the lost souls,” she said, stressing that the unity of the body of Christ must be demonstrated practically and consistently. She added that becoming one people in Christ “should start here on earth before we get to heaven.”
Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah wholeheartedly agreed, affirming that the teachings of Christ call the Church to oneness, mutual support, and shared witness. “That is what Christ teaches – oneness. We have to collaborate; we have to learn from each other,” he stated, emphasising that the mission of God thrives when churches work together rather than in isolation.
Both leaders also reflected on the importance of strengthening the public image of the Church in contemporary society. Lt. Col. Hacamba called for more engagements of this nature, noting that the Church must take public relations and communication seriously in order to bring its people—and the wider public—closer to its mission. She stressed that effective engagement is essential for enhancing the Church’s credibility and impact.
Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah echoed her sentiments, adding that the Church’s witness to the world must be intentional, coordinated, and grounded in integrity. He also spoke about the PCG’s upcoming bicentennial celebration and presented one of the special 200th anniversary Bibles to Lt. Col. Hacamba, together with the bicentennial cloth.
Accompanying the Clerk were the Director of Church Life and Nurture, Rev. Andrew Shardow; the Public Relations Officer, Jerome Otchere; and the Personal Assistant to the Clerk, Rev. Eugene Duodu.
