Clerk concludes two-day inspection of proposed districts
The Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, has successfully completed a two‑day administrative inspection of the proposed Estate and Nananko Districts within the Asante South Presbytery.
The exercise, from Monday, 27th April to Tuesday, 28th April 2026, formed part of the church’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its administrative structures and assess the readiness of sub‑districts seeking elevation to full district status.
The visit began with a solemn welcome service at the Ascension Congregation, Obuasi, where ministers, presbyters, and congregants gathered to pray for a fruitful exercise.
In his welcome address, the Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Daniel Brobbey, drew inspiration from John 1, emphasising the centrality of the Word of God in building strong church structures. He described the Clerk’s visit as a sign of the Presbytery’s growth and urged leaders of the proposed districts to present their work with transparency, diligence, and spiritual maturity.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah expressed gratitude for the warm reception and commended the Presbytery for its commitment to expansion. He outlined the purpose of his mission, to verify that the proposed districts were spiritually vibrant, administratively organised, and logistically prepared to operate independently.
“The growth of the Church necessitates these structures, but they must be built on a solid and sustainable foundation,” he noted. The first day of the tour focused on the Estate Sub‑District, where the Clerk inspected congregations, administrative facilities, mission initiatives, and leadership readiness.
On the second day, he undertook a similar assessment in the Nananko Sub‑District, engaging ministers, catechists, and local leaders on their preparedness for district autonomy. The two‑day exercise concluded with a closing prayer by the Presbytery Chairperson after a vote of thanks from the Lay Representative.
Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah later said his findings will now be submitted to the General Assembly Council (GAC), which will make the final determination on whether the two sub‑districts qualify for elevation. The Asante South Presbytery awaits the outcome with prayerful anticipation, hopeful that the visit will contribute to a stronger administrative future.
