Stronger administrative culture needed – Rev Obeng Agyei
The department of Administration and Human Resource Management (AHRM) has called for a renewed commitment to administrative excellence across all levels of the church. This call was made during episode 4 of PCG Connect, where the department presented an in‑depth overview of its work and challenges.
According to the Director, Rev. George Obeng‑Agyei, the department’s mandate covers a wide range of responsibilities including human resource development, property management, ICT systems, legal and constitutional matters, protocol, and communication.
He noted that effective administration is essential for sustaining the church’s mission, adding that “AHRM is the pivot around which the work and witness of the church revolves.” The department highlighted the constitutional structures it supports—committees, courts, and institutions—and explained how these bodies depend on accurate data, proper documentation, logistics, and policy guidance to function effectively.
However, the presentation also identified challenges affecting administrative efficiency. These include inadequate appreciation of administrative processes, over‑spiritualisation of issues that require procedural solutions, lack of dedication to duty, weak documentation culture, and disruptions caused by leadership transitions.
Rev. George Obeng‑Agyei stressed that addressing these challenges is crucial for strengthening institutional memory, improving compliance, and ensuring that the church’s structures operate smoothly. They encouraged ministers, officers, and congregations to embrace best practices in administration as part of their Christian stewardship.
