Embracing Christ is daily lifestyle – Rev Kofi Nyarko
The preacher for the 2026 Ordination Service – Batch 2, Rev. Peter Kofi Nyarko, has reminded the 28 newly ordained ministers that authentic ministry begins with a daily, uncompromising embrace of Jesus Christ.
Speaking at the Peyer Memorial Congregation, Bantama, he stressed that “embracing Christ is not partial; it is a daily life.” Rev. Kofi Nyarko urged the ministers to understand that the call to ordained ministry is not confined to clerical attire or public functions.
“Your life as a minister is not only on the day you are in clerical,” he said. “It is a daily life.” Drawing from Mark 8:34–35, he emphasised that the heart of ministry is self‑denial: “Those who lose their lives for Christ’s sake will be saved.”
He added that Christ does not call ministers to an easy path, but to a life where His mission becomes their priority. He reminded the ordinands that ministry is Christ’s work, not theirs.
“It is Christ’s ministry. You have become part of His ministry,” he noted, urging them to examine their motives. He cautioned against seeking applause from people, saying that pure motives centred on Christ produce eternal fruits and form the true foundation for faithful ministry.
Rev. Nyarko also warned that ministry detached from Scripture becomes mere opinion. Quoting 2 Timothy 3:13–14 and Colossians 3:16, he called for disciplined prayer and Bible study: “We must allow the word of Christ to dwell in us richly. You cannot put God in your pocket.”
He ended by reminding the ministers that the journey ahead will include both good and bad seasons, and that congregations may not always understand their struggles. “It is a holy call,” he said. “You have entered into a holy covenant with Christ.”
