Bicentennial song to be sung at all official gatherings
The bicentennial song is to be sung at all official gatherings across the church as part of efforts to deepen awareness, strengthen unity and build a shared identity ahead of the 2028 Bicentennial celebrations.
The announcement was communicated in a circular signed by Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, and addressed to all congregations, preaching points, districts and presbyteries. According to the Clerk’s office, the decision is intended to ensure that the entire church journeys together toward the climax of the bicentennial anniversary.
The singing of the anniversary song is expected to become a regular feature at meetings, services, training programmes, committee sittings and other official gatherings of all courts of the church.
Congregations and preaching points are to teach the song to members, with particular emphasis on Children’s Service and Junior Youth Fellowship groups. Leaders of these groups are encouraged to integrate the teaching and regular singing of the song into their programmes to ensure that younger Presbyterians appreciate the heritage and significance of the upcoming milestone.
Sessions, group leaders and responsible officers across the church are requested to ensure full compliance with the directive and encourage members to learn and sing the song confidently. Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah expressed confidence that the collective participation of all Presbyterians will enrich the church’s celebration of its heritage.
