Embrace 21st century teaching with integrity
Graduands of Agogo Presbyterian Women’s College of Education (APWCE) has been urged to accept their calling as teachers with passion, integrity and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Addressing the 17th Congregation of the College, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, congratulated the graduands on completing an important chapter in their lives and reminded them that Presbyterian education seeks to shape “the head, the heart and the hand.”
He noted that today’s classroom demands a new kind of teacher—empathetic, adaptable, technologically competent and intentionally transformative. He said the congregation theme, “Building on Excellence: Equipping Female Teachers with 21st Century Skills for National Development,” reflects the urgent need for teachers who can think critically, solve problems creatively and inspire learners to do the same.
The Moderator encouraged the graduands to serve as role models for younger generations, inspiring girls to discover their potential and helping boys grow into responsible and respectful members of society. He reminded them that teachers shape nations, values and generations, often without seeing the full impact of their work.
He urged them to go forth and serve with humility, teach with passion and lead with integrity, adding that excellence is not a destination but a continuous pursuit. “Let your light shine before others, that all may see your good works, and glorify your Father in Heaven and your alma mater on earth below,” he said.
The Moderator expressed optimism that the College will continue to produce transformative teachers who will strengthen communities and contribute meaningfully to national development.
