The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, in his closing sermon at the Bible Study and Prayer Group (BSPG) 60th Anniversary Convention in Kumasi, has urged BSPG members and Presbyterians worldwide to commit themselves to diligent study of the Word of God.

Preaching on the theme “What Is Your Foundation?” at the Royal Parade Grounds of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the Moderator stated that a careful study and application of Scripture is what makes the Christian life impactful.

“There is more to draw from the Bible,” he said. “As BSPG members, read your Bibles. Develop a reading plan that allows you to go through the Bible. We have BSPG members, we have Presbyterians who do not read the Bible.”

He challenged them to make Bible reading a daily discipline, stressing that transformation comes not only from hearing the Word but from living it out. “Let us learn to read the Bible daily,” he urged. “I want to charge BSPG members who have gathered here: let us leave with the resolve that as for this year, we would read the Bible daily. Our lives would be transformed as we read the Bible.”

The Moderator reminded members that the foundation of their faith must be rooted in Scripture, warning that neglecting the Word weakens spiritual growth besides undermining the church’s witness. He encouraged BSPG members to take the discipline of Bible study seriously, not only for personal edification but also to impact Ghana.

“As we read the Bible and apply it, our lives will be transformed, and our witness will be stronger,” he said, concluding with a call to action: “Let us resolve together that in 2026, we will be people of the Word.”  The sermon brought the curtain down on the BSPG’s 60th Anniversary Convention, leaving members challenged to renew their commitment to Scripture as the foundation of their faith and mission.
