Worshippers defy rains on national crusade final night
The closing night of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s 2026 National Crusade at Jubilee Park, Kumasi, will be remembered as a powerful testimony of faith and resilience as we captured extraordinary scenes of youths, adults, and ministers praying, singing and dancing in the rain, refusing to let the weather dampen their worship.
As the rains poured and the lights subsequently went out, worshippers lifted their voices even louder, praying and praising God under the open, dark skies in the roofed stands of the Jubilee Park. Some were seen clapping and dancing barefoot, others kneeling in prayer, while groups huddled together singing hymns to glorify God.
The atmosphere was charged with the conviction that nothing could separate them from the presence of God which had been felt from day one of the crusade. When the rain subsided and the lights partially were restored, the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, mounted the podium and the congregation erupted in joy, resuming the service with renewed energy.
The Moderator praised God for His beautiful works and also commended Asante Presbytery for their show of resilience. Then Rev. Eric Botchway, the main speaker for the crusade, launched straight into his revival message. Preaching under the theme “Jesus Christ, Our Hope and Refuge,” he reminded worshippers to hold fast to their faith and never surrender regardless of the circumstances they find themselves.
The final night became more than a crusade; it was a living demonstration of endurance and devotion. The sight of drenched worshippers singing through the storm symbolised the strength of the church in adversity. For many, the blackout and rain were not obstacles but opportunities to prove the depth of their commitment to Christ.
As the crusade closed, the message was clear: the Presbyterian Church of Ghana stands strong, even when storms rage. The 2026 National Crusade will be remembered not only for its sermons and songs but for the unshakable faith of thousands who gathered at Jubilee Park, declaring that Jesus Christ remains their hope and refuge – anytime.
