PCG is a strong, dynamic church – AG General Secretary
The General Secretary of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr. Ernest Birikorang, has described the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) as “a strong, dynamic church”, noting its long-standing contribution to both spiritual formation and national development.
He made the remarks when the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, paid a fraternal visit to the Assemblies of God Head Office in Accra on Thursday. Rev. Dr. Birikorang commended the PCG for decades of consistent ministry, stating its role as the oldest continuously existing church in Ghana and its impact on society through education, health, and mission work.
The visit formed part of Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah’s ongoing engagements with colleague clerks of various Christian denominations. Explaining the purpose of these visits, the Clerk stressed the need for deeper collaboration within the body of Christ, emphasising unity as essential for fulfilling the Great Commission.
“When we are together, we work better than when we operate individually,” he said. “Assemblies of God has played major roles in the growth of Christianity in Ghana, and just like us, you continue to do so. We are happy that you received us.”
Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah also spoke about the upcoming Bicentennial Celebration of the PCG and extended an invitation to the Assemblies of God. He presented a Bicentennial Bible and anniversary cloth to Rev. Dr. Birikorang, who expressed gratitude for the visit, saying, “We deeply appreciate this visit and will honour the invitation.”
Accompanying the Clerk were the Director for Ecumenical and Social Relations, Rev. Andrew Odjawo; Director for Mission and Evangelism, Rev. Dr. E. K. Sarbah; Director for Development and Social Services, Mrs. Rebecca Teiko Sabah; Personal Assistant to the Clerk, Rev. Eugene Duodu; and the Public Relations Officer, Jerome Otchere.
