The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare‑Kwakye, has challenged graduates of the Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG) to step into society as agents of change, carrying with them the values of integrity, discipline, and service that define Christian education.

Speaking in an interview with PCG TV after the University’s postgraduate congregation, the Moderator said graduates of a Christian institution must not only excel professionally but must also serve as instruments of transformation in their workplaces, communities, and the nation at large. He stressed that the purpose of Christian education extends far beyond academic achievement, noting that graduates are expected to reflect the moral and spiritual principles instilled in them during their training.

According to him, Ghana needs men and women who will stand for truth, resist corruption, and contribute meaningfully to nation‑building. “As our graduates go out of this university, we expect them, having attended a Christian university based on Christian discipline and integrity, to go and be change agents,” he said.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Opare‑Kwakye explained that being a change agent means becoming an ambassador of ethical leadership and positive transformation wherever one finds oneself. He urged graduates not to conform to negative societal practices but to become instruments of renewal, courage, and hope.

He expressed confidence that PUG graduates are well prepared for this task, noting that the University equips its students not only with academic knowledge but also with the values and character necessary to make a lasting impact. He encouraged them to uphold these values as they enter various fields of service, reminding them that the nation’s progress depends on individuals who are committed to doing what is right.
