The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has begun a week‑long pastoral visit to the Ga West Presbytery, reaffirming that the church continues to expand both locally and globally.

Addressing ministers, presbyters, and congregants, the Moderator highlighted the PCG’s growing international presence. “We are in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. We cannot carry the tag ‘global church’ without being truly global,” he said, noting that the church’s footprint now extends across several continents.

Reflecting on the implications of this growth, he cautioned that expansion comes with significant responsibility. “Growth brings a lot of responsibility. If we miss the opportunity to grow, one day we might regret it,” he remarked, urging the church to embrace emerging opportunities with diligence and foresight.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye described his pastoral visit as an important opportunity to deepen fellowship and gain firsthand insight into the life of the Presbytery.

He explained that while formal reports presented at the General Assembly Council are useful, direct engagement with congregations provides a fuller picture of ministry realities. “This visit affords me the opportunity to hear directly from the people—your joys, your challenges, and your hopes for the future,” he said.

The Moderator expressed profound gratitude to the Ga West Presbytery for what he described as wholehearted and consistent support for his administration. He offered special thanks to the Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Enoch Adjei Pobee, for his leadership and partnership.

During an interactive session, the Moderator responded to questions from participants, including inquiries about the future of Trinity Insurance Brokers (TIB). He noted that the institution is stabilising as it works toward becoming a full‑fledged insurance company. He also addressed the proposal for an Accra campus of the Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG) at Laterbiokoshie, indicating that further investigation and consultations are required.

On the issue of women’s participation in Presbytery Chairperson elections, the Moderator reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to fairness, opportunity, and ongoing dialogue on leadership inclusion. The pastoral visit continues with engagements across districts, congregations, and mission stations within the Ga West Presbytery.
