Ministers gather in Akuapem for Continuous Education
The Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana is hosting the third cohort of the Continuous Education Programme for Ministers, bringing together clergy from across the denomination for a period of learning, reflection, and ministerial renewal.
The session was officially opened by the National CLAN Director, Rev. Andrew Shardow, who set the tone for the programme and reaffirmed its purpose within the Church’s broader commitment to ministerial development.
Organised under the Department of Church Life and Nurture (CLAN), the programme is designed to equip ministers with relevant theological insights, contemporary pastoral skills, and practical tools for effective ministry in a rapidly changing world. It also provides a space for fellowship, shared experiences, and mutual encouragement among ministers serving in diverse contexts.
Welcoming participants, the Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Ebenezer Acheampong Asiedu, expressed joy that Akuapem had been chosen to host the cohort. He encouraged ministers to remain focused, engage actively in all sessions, and make the most of the learning opportunities provided.
Continuous learning, he emphasised, is essential for effective and faithful ministry in today’s church. The programme covers key pastoral, administrative, and missional areas aimed at strengthening ministerial effectiveness.
Topics include Pastoral Care and Counselling, Property Management and Basic Legal Issues in Ministry, Financial Management and Church Administration, and Principles of Church Growth.
These sessions are structured to enhance leadership capacity, accountability, and fruitful service within the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. As participants take part in lectures, discussions, and spiritual exercises, the programme reaffirms the church’s conviction that an informed, spiritually grounded, and well‑equipped clergy is indispensable to its mission.
The choice of Akuapem as host reflects the Presbytery’s longstanding contribution to Christian education, leadership development, and ministerial formation within the PCG.
