Anthony Amankwah takes over as Principal of RTI, Kumasi
Mr. Anthony Sarkodie Amankwah, an accomplished TVET administrator and Competency‑Based Training (CBT) professional, has officially assumed office as head of the Ramseyer Technical Institute (RTI), Kumasi, succeeding Rev. Samuel Asamoa Ayeh‑Hanson, who led RTI with distinction from 2012 to 2026.
The handing‑over ceremony, held this week, brought together management, staff, and stakeholders of the Institute. Chairing the event, the Board Chairman and Asante Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Samuel Ahima‑Yeboah, commended the outgoing Principal for his years of dedicated service and charged the incoming Principal to build on RTI’s strong foundation.
He assured Mr. Amankwah of the Board’s and the Presbytery’s full support as he leads the Institute into its next phase of growth. Mr. Amankwah assumes the role with a wealth of experience in TVET leadership. He has served as Vice Principal of RTI since 2015, overseeing academic affairs, CBT implementation, admissions, examinations, discipline, and in‑house training.
Before joining RTI, he served as Principal of the Denkyemuoso Vocational Training Centre, where he provided administrative leadership, academic supervision, and public relations for the institution. His academic background includes an MPhil in Management and Human Resource Strategy from KNUST, an MBA in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management, a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Higher National Diploma in Fashion Design and Textiles, and a Diploma in Education (CBT option).
These qualifications position him strongly to lead a modern TVET institution. Beyond RTI, Mr. Amankwah is deeply involved in national TVET development. He serves as a member of the CTVET Quality Assurance Committee, a registered CBT Facilitator, Assessor, Internal Verifier, and an Accredited External Verifier in Garment Making. He has facilitated numerous national CBT workshops across Ghana and has been repeatedly engaged as a National Short‑Term Expert for the Ghana Skills Development Initiative (GIZ).
He is also the Project Team Lead for the European Commission‑funded GreenVETAfrica Project, which focuses on green waste management in vocational education—an initiative that aligns RTI with global sustainability standards.
Mr. Amankwah’s excellence has been recognised nationally. He is a recipient of the Best CBT Trainer Award (2021) and the National Best Programme Team Leader for CBT Implementation (2019), among other honours.
In his remarks, the new Principal expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work collaboratively with staff, the Board, and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to strengthen RTI’s academic quality, expand its CBT programmes, and enhance its reputation as a leading TVET institution in Ghana.
